So, I was in Rapid City recently. I was there to attend a convention of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium. It’s a great conference and a great organization. So, I was enjoying myself a great deal, already, when a thought occurred to me. I wonder if there is any street art in Rapid City?
Surely, I thought, there must be a mural or two, maybe not even a great one, but I’ll bet there is something.
Turns out the answer is ‘yes’. There is definitely street art in Rapid City. In fact, the city has an entire alley devoted to it.

Love the white tiger.
These were all pretty cool! Love the bison utility box.
Very fun, and reminds me of Freak Alley in Boise, Idaho, where we used to live.
Nice! Reminds us of the Fremont Arts District in Las Vegas! Great to see such creativity everywhere.
Wow! Amazing talent!
Have walked that alley but missed so much that you captured here! Thanks for opening my eyes even wider! It’s a great town for art — the statues of former Presidents on street corners is pretty cool, too (and in the winter people leave hats, scarves, gloves and stuff on the statues so homeless people can collect them). Thanks for these awesome photos!
Thanks for these awesome photos! We’ve walked that alley but I sure missed a lot!! The talent surrounding all of us, where ever we are, is often hidden until places like this set those artists free to show us their stuff.
Beautiful photos! I love checking out local street art when I visit new cities! My favorite place so far for street art is Berlin. 🙂

Didn’t even know South Dakota got down like that…

This is incredible; I love that fireman mural!
Wow I love the graffiti! There’s also a street art alley in Gent, Belgium – I recommend you check it out if you’re ever around!
Fabulous!
The Simpson one is my favorite. Nice job shooting these!
Simply Love it !
How interesting… Very cool shots, thanks for sharing them! Reminds me of the mid-century styles of art.
Those are really cool. Thank you for following my blog.
