So, I opened the door to head off to work earlier today and this fellow was sitting outside. He stayed long enough for me to get my camera and snap a few pics. Being totally free of superstition and all, I immediately decided this fellow was trying to tell me I have been a jack-ass for letting my blog go like this. One of my students ended up giving me a ride. She figured it was the same owl that’d been scaring her dog and said he was probably in town looking for food.
She’s right of course, but I’m going to commence rebloggination anyway.
…starting with this guy.
Why not give the owl some food?
>
Nice photo……….such a beautiful bird.
Yes, it is a beautiful bird 🙂
Thank you.
Hi Tienny, I think it has plenty of food to eat right now. There is caribou hanging from the meat racks or porches of every third house at the moment, and some of last year’s whale blubber to boot. I expect he’s well fed.
(…okay, maybe not every third house, but anyway, lots of them.)
I see 🙂
yes get blogging. i’m a lazy blogger but you usually have lots to say!
Lol, hopefully not all of it totally insane. 🙂
Good news on blogging, but I’d be a little worried about the owl turning up. Kind of like “The Raven!”
Heh, …I’ll have to guard my mojo. Hope all is well for you and yours Gerald.
Nice photo
Thank you.
beautiful!
🙂
Owls signify wisdom, oh wise one. Glad to see you back in action!
Heh, thank you. Now I have to get used to actually writing posts again.
This far south, I’d be pleased to have one of these beauties show up in my backyard. Some winters they do show up, but they are irregulars.
They are definitely a cool bird. Never lived Northy enough for them until coming here.
The bat still watches you from afar… and loves the “click to embiggen”
Hello Wawbat!!! How are you?
What are the superstition, for having such a Regal bird at your front door?
I can think of a few stories about owls and omens, but as to my own projection, I immediately thought the pic would be worth a post, and then thought …if only I was posting still.
“Commencé rebloggeration” thanks for that!
Language is more fun when you are doing it wrong. 🙂
You bet. Helps when you know it.
Well thank you and Hellooooooo derrrrrrre!
Hi Elisa,
How are you doing?
Thanks for sharing. Stunning critter! I enjoy experiencing life, in your part of the world, via your blog. I’ve been neglecting my blog as well. Thanks for the motivation to get on it.
Hi heather! I shall try to get more posts in now. Might be a slow start. Hope you can get some done too!
Beautiful! Maybe some warmed up cat food for it?
Heh, …just so long as it doesn’t get the cats themselves.
😳
Welcome back!
Thank you.
Welcome back. I’ve missed you-and your owl is gorgeous.
Thank you White Lion. He is pretty cool. Have to admit though I actually tweaked this photo a bit. Rare for me, but it was just too dark otherwise.
Hi, it has been a long time. I look forward to your new blogs. Aija
Thank you Aija. good to see you back in my comments. 🙂
Great shot Dan – she’s gorgeous.
At work we have the solid white male behind the building (year ’round resident) so I’ve not seen a female snowy owl in person… yet. Hope springs eternal. 🙂
Thank you Maia. You’ll get one. …Hopefully without a hectic jeep ride. 🙂
A bit jealous of you for seeing that. And thanks for the good laugh I had when I noticed that the owl has been busy pooping…. (hey – a rough couple of days at work so let me have my immature moment)
Heh, we all need a good poop-chuckle every now and then.
Reblogged this on Norbert Haupt and commented:
Minutes after I published my scare-owl post below, I saw this Northier post in a blog that has been hibernating for a number of months. How fitting. Welcome back Dan. You have been missed.
Hi Norbert. Thank you for the reblog.
Wow what a fantastic photo! Owls are so beautiful! Hugz Lisa and Bear
Thank you Lisa.
great shot of a beautiful bird.
Thank you. I got lucky. 🙂
good to see you back. I was going thru my list of followeds and deleting those who’d quit – I had been really enjoying your posts so good to see you again. I find it interesting to compare our worlds as I live in the desert – but might also step outside the front door to find one (and on one occasion two) hawks on the bird bath.
Glad you kept me on. I’ve lived in the desert most of my life myself actually, and I’m told this too is technically a desert. Still it’s hard to remember that at 40 below. A hawk in your bird bath sounds very cool.
Who knew he would snow up right now ? Great composition. 🙂
Thank you.
Hello dere to you Sir! Thanks for following my blog. 🙂
Glad to see you are alive and well. I had wondered what happened to you.
Good to see you Juliana. I was caught up in a larger writing project over the summer, and a rather overloaded course schedule this semestr. Also I was starting to get a little sick of my own essays. So I figured it was time to take a break and try and remember what I was up to in the first place.
I am finally starting to get my head above water. So, hopefully…
Since you like adventures, check out my blog posts–not done yet–about my wonderful adventures in Ethiopia this summer. Went with Ethiopian friends to visit family and took a road trip, including floating down the Nile where the Blue Nile begins.
