So, I am sitting here waiting on my meal at the airport in Anchorage. I have an Alaskan Amber Ale sitting in a tall glass in front of me. The glass is narrow on the bottom and wide at the top. Light penetrates the bottom portion of the glass, but the top is a rich dark brown.
I notice something odd, a faint ring is rising up from the bottom of the glass, catching the light as it goes. For just a moment I have no idea what I am looking at, then I realize it is a thin layer of ice from the chilled glass. a bit like a ring of smoke, it moves slowly, dissipating as it rises into the darkness. Nothing reaches the top.
I wonder, have I ever seen that before?
I really need to drink beer more often.
who knows what you will see after the next beer
Well I did see a very pretty waitress.
As such an art form… I must try to track that particular brew done!!
It’s a good one, but for some reason it always tastes best in the Seattle Airport. …along with an order of beef stew.
We all have to be ready for these moments of reprieve. This is a nice one.
I have to admit that I didn’t expect to see something so profoundly beautiful sitting there staring into my beer in a Chili’s in the middle of an airport.
Yes. I wouldn’t expect to see anything approaching even bearable in a Chili’s. And yet. . .
There’s an app for that! I use untappd… there are others, but sharing that moment is easy with social networking for beer drinkers 🙂
Nice post
Hm …I don;t know about apps though. Still getting used to life without a dial-up phone.
Hah-hah. It got off to quite a start. Good ending, too.
🙂
Hey, Dan, to meet you! I had an almost identical experience once… It really does kinda make you wonder what you’re “seeing”, doesn’t it? 😉
Lol, touche!
Wellll…. I guess it’s really LMAO with egg on my face, since I didn’t “see” that I had left out the “great”est word in that sentence! And I *would* do that on a teacher’s blog… 😉
Lol, detention awaits!
