Long before Moni and I took to the road to spend this last July in New Mexico, I spent a couple months with her and her family down in San Dimas, California.
I’m usually a little lost in big cities. Vegas would be an exception, because it was once home, but usually cities make me a little uncomfortable. You see more people in 5 minutes down there in L.A. than you will up here in months on the North Slope (and that’s just on a quick trip to Target). I find it all just a little bit disconcerting.
Still, the big cities do have their strong points…
Oh yes, they do!

Wow 😮 very cool street art. Been in La a week never seen it 😂😂
Really great street art.
Reblogged this on crjen1958.
Now that’s, street art!
Great images…..
Yeah, we loved visiting Traction Avenue in LA. The American Hotel is pretty historic with the punk scene in LA. So many bands played there. Enjoyed reading your blog post and seeing the lovely photos!
Impressive and beautiful. 🙂 … favourite – the door/portal ones … you never know where you’ll end up. 😀
Terrific photos – thank you for sharing them!
Valparaiso, a few miles down the coast, is also worth a look for street art. Though this is good too.
I think the wolves are supposed to be inspired by Japanese folklore. There is a large Japanese population in San Francisco, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think that some artists from that community may have gotten involved.
On another note, your post reminds me of some of the changes that are happening in Toronto right now. In the past few years, the city has encouraged street art. Before, it was mostly constrained to poorer areas of the city. However, street art can now be found on the walls outside of the train tracks at Union Station (right next to the skydome and some high priced condos). There’s also some on Queen Street (if I’m not mistaken, which, incidentally, I might be…) I’d encourage you to check it out.
